- Traditional: You can read all of the traditional legacy rules HERE the other types of legacies are still based on these rules so, if you choose a non-traditional legacy, you should follow the traditional rules plus the additional rules listed below:
- Uglacy: Try to create the ugliest sim possible by the 10th generation.
- Prettacy: Start with the ugliest sim you can possibly make, then try to make each generation more and more attractive, try to have the prettiest sim possible by the 10th generation.
- Alphabecy: Name your children in alphabetical order. This one continues for 26 Generations. (First Generation’s names start with “A”, Second Generation starts with “B” and so on through the alphabet.)
- Matriarchal Legacy: Start with a female founder. Can only have female heiresses. 10 generations.
- Matriarchal-Single Mom Variant: Same as a Matriarchal Legacy except the Founder may not marry, and none of the Heiresses may marry.
- Patriarchal Legacy: Start with a male founder. The heirs can only be male. 10 generations.
- Riskacy: Have the founder and heirs marry the first adult sim of the opposite gender (playable, townie, or NPC) that walks onto the lot.
- Themed Legacy: a traditional legacy with a theme. The children are named according to the theme. I’ve seen many different themes used such as a castle theme with medieval names, clothes and house, to a nature themed legacy with the names of trees such as Ash and Beech, it’s called the Arbor Legacy, it is one of the best Sims 3 legacy blogs I have seen so far. You could pick any theme you can think of, that’s the fun of it.
- Kleptocy: You start with a founder with the kleptomaniac trait. You may only spend the $1,300 that you start with on objects, after that you are no longer allowed to buy anything from buy mode. You may only build a house. You will have to swipe everything you need. Nothing you swipe can be changed (designed).
Nothing you swipe can be sold. The family trait is kleptomaniac and all heirs/heiresses must possess that trait. Same rules apply to all ten generations. You may buy from stores like the bookstore, just not from build mode. THERE ARE TWO EXCEPTIONS: 1.CRIBS AND 2.DRIVEWAYS may be bought when needed since the are virtually impossible to steal.Advertisement
Types of Legacies

[...] I know this will be a difficult feat since you wont be starting out with the basics of a normal legacy but that’s the fun of it, it’s a challenge. Of course you can go to the gym to eat and shower, and you can sleep on a bench until you can steal a lounge chair. I’m going to try this out and work out the kinks and then add it to my Types of Legacies List. [...]
thought you should know for the kleptocy that there are some items that cannot be stolen. I know for a fact that the bed is one of them because my sim had already stolen everything in the room other than the beds and then it said there was nothing in the room to steal. I’m guessing a fridge is one of those items as well as the cribs and driveways.
